Its all gone Pete Tong

Motor racing is dangerous and when it goes wrong it can escalate quickly. Here are a selection of crash images the PistonClick team have captured.

All of the drivers and riders walked away.

As I started going through my images I realised quite quickly I have quite a lot of "Its all gone Pete Tong" moments so here is a small selection from the last few years. All of the drivers and riders walked away and were ok after the incidents.

Who Marc Marquez
What MotoGP Friday Practice
Where Silverstone
When July 24, 2018

Why On the Friday MoToGP Practice, at Brooklands is a good place to be as you can get several different types of images, by not moving very far. Mac Marquez was getting faster and deeper into Brooklands every lap. But eventually he lost the front end. But you could see him trying to control it by pushing his knee, and his Elbow down to stand the bike up. He nearly managed it. He is a master in that situation!!!

2018 Goodwood Revival - RAC TT Celebration practice - amazingly, there was no contact between the cars and the E-Type carried on its way.
2019 Darley Moor “Stars of Darley” meeting - a damp track and too much power leads to …
2015 Prescott VSCC meeting - the car tipped onto its side and the driver walked away - a little crest-fallen it has to be said.

Being a speedway photographer is sometimes one of the best jobs in the world as the access we are allowed and how close we can get to the action is second to none.

However, I never ever forget how dangerous this sport can be there have been many crashes that I have held my breath thinking that was a bad one.

Thankfully the orange army as always are amazing, sorting out the carnage in double quick time. The great medical staff checked out Danny and Joe clearing them to ride in another heat, these speedway riders are superhuman!!!
