Carmarthen v Isle of Wight

Carmarthen Dragons v Isle of Wight Wizards

Carmarthen lost 14-22 to the Isle of Wight at Loomer Road Saturday night.

With most of the races being from the gate, Chad Wirtzfeld scored the most points for the Wizards, scoring a three-ride maximum.
But Dragon Danny Woodward was on the pace and firing out the traps - scoring 10-points out of four rides.

Skipper Lawrence Fielding withdrew in his second ride due to lack of visibility after finding debris in his left eye.
Dragons boss Lawrence Fielding said:

“We knew it was going to be a tough meeting against IOW with several National League standard riders. I’m really happy with the effort our lads have put in over the season and it’s not been an easy one with injuries and unavailability, but we’ve just cracked on with it the best we can. Danny and Tim are going well, and Ben has just come back from injury, so we are pleased that’s he’s gaining more confidence.

Personally, with myself stepping into ride, it has come as a bit of a shock as I’ve not been riding for a couple of years so I’m just trying to find my feet again. We know we aren’t going to finish near the top of the league table, after having a good start to the season, but we have two remaining home fixtures left so we are going to give it our all.”
