Photographing the British GT Silverstone 500

Arguably the Blue Riband race of the British GT calendar is the Silverstone 500. It’s generally around the end of April / early May and will often attract a few additional entries for a three-hour race on the full Grand Prix circuit. Whilst this may be a great attraction to teams and drivers, and indeed is a mere 25 minutes door to door from home for this writer, there are downsides. Click the image for more.
A Weekend’s Touring - Donington Park and Cadwell Park

The 2024 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) got underway this weekend at Donington Park in “mixed” weather conditions.
Saturday’s programme, although distinctly chilly, was virtually dry throughout, whilst Sunday’s “raceday” was the victim of heavy overnight and early morning rain, which led to the start of racing action being delayed, whilst standing water at the bottom of the Craner Curves could be drained away. MSV’s Lincolnshire circuit hosted Equipe’s second race meeting of the year. With their saloon and sportscar categories on the programme, the races produced some close competition and entertaining battles to keep the spectators entertained. Click the image for more.
British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) Test day at Croft

Pre-season testing for the BTCC is now complete, and the stage is set for this weekend’s opening round at Donington Park on the National circuit. The 20 drivers in 9 teams will compete for the championship over 30 races at ten events, visiting Brands Hatch and Donington Park twice to take on the very different Indy/National and GP circuits.
